My Home Library Series

805’s “My Home Library” blog series features essays and poems by writers and artists who are enjoying their home libraries during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since 805 is published by the Manatee County Public Library System, and since most libraries have closed due to the pandemic, we hope this blog series will help people show off their home libraries, find comfort in books, and feel a connection to the library during this difficult time.

Please note:

  • Your home library is not limited to books- you can write about your movies, albums, video games, or your virtual library on your e-reader.

  • Please include 1-5 photos of your library including close-ups of books.

  • Essays can be up to 400 words. Poems can be any length and style.

  • No prior writing experience is required. Write from the heart.

  • Writers under 18 need permission from a parent/guardian to submit an essay.

  • Please include a 25-100 word bio to accompany your post.
