Song of the Rain

Madelyn Hotaling

rain falls in music notes

in chords

in a breathtaking tune

rain falls in drum beats

in rhythm

in a swelling rhapsody

rain falls in an orchestra

in harmony

in a heartbroken symphony

rain falls around you

an umbrella

but never touches

I wish you could feel the rain

I can feel the rain

I wish you could feel my hand

I can feel yours

I wish you could feel my heart

I would give it to you

I wish you could feel

I can feel too much

The rain is heavy.

It soaks my clothes.

I am warm, and I am cold.

You fade into the distance.

I wish you were real
