Demise Blossom
Grace Bondurant
demise blossom.
a bitter flower
of irony and regret
blooms within her chest
hidden there
holding a weary heart in place
stemming across imperfection
and mistakes
a petal falls
day after day
and she fears
what comes next?
words don't slip
from parted lips
no cry for help
dry tears escape
the flower remains
unacknowledged and withering
a calyx of onyx
trapped within a dying vessel
